Frequently asked questions

What age is best for portraits?

There's no wrong age, but usually babies around 3-4 months old (sitting up unassisted) until about 10 years old. My personal favorite age to photograph is around 3-5 years when children still have some of their baby face but their personality starts to shine through.

What should my child wear?

For a true heirloom look, choose white or light color clothing that has details like peter pan collars, lace, smocking, etc. Solids tend to photograph better than patterns. Light, pale colors with soft tones photograph well such as, baby blues, pale pinks, whites, and creams.

I will provide a wardrobe consultation with you before the shoot and can answer additional questions.

Since these portraits are ultimately meant to be framed and displayed, consider what rooms of your home these photos will live in. If you plan to print your images in color, choose wardrobe colors that will go well with the decor of your home.

Where do Heirloom & Personality Portraits take place?

Heirloom & Personality portrait sittings take place at my home using natural light and photography equipment. Sessions are by appointment only.
